Caesar managed to enter the senate in 68BC through his appointment as Quaestor but was immediately met with much contempt from the senate as they were wary of his talents and of his influence by Marius and Cinna as members of the Populares, not of the Optimates and as Suetonius said “There are many Mariuses in this fellow Caesar.”
