Oedema Case Study

Improved Essays
I have caught up with Nicholas, three weeks since his last appointment. Symptomatically, Nicholas has improved somewhat, although his cough persists and he is still intermittently producing yellow phlegm. He has also become more aware of nasal congestion with post-nasal drip. He is not experiencing his typical seasonal allergic rhinitis symptoms. During this time, Nicholas has undergone a bronchoscopy, which, macroscopically, has identified some oedema to the right and left lower lobe bronchial mucosa. There were no significant secretions identified. Endobroncial biopsies, brushings and washings have revealed inflammatory changes only, with no malignant cells. Final cultures for micobacteria are pending, but stains have come back negative.
