The Odyssey have a religious view of Greek mythology. In Greek mythology they believe in demi gods like Zeus and Athena and Poseidon. Greek mythology was a form of how the ancient Greeks explain the environment in which humankind lived. A bible verse I would've used if I were Odysseus would've been Philippians 4:6 and it says “don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” (bible) Odysseus had all these things and trials to overcome and he was “worried” to get back home and his wife would be with another man. The people are fighting with a demon named Grendel. The people pray to all sorts of evilness and then they pray to the devil go get rid of Grendel. If the people believed in God also they could've remembered the first commandment. It says you shall no other one but God. So they should've prayed to God than these other false idols, and especially the devil. Beowulf is coming to them as a savior. No it's not like Christ but God will provide to those in need. In my belief I think the Christianity view dominates the pagan view in this story. I believe this only because they speak more about God and the devil in Christian aspects. On the other side of the Christian views is that Beowulf only survives because of God and the gifts of strength that God had given him. Beowulf throughout the story also says that God is his protector. In the end Beowulf showed his humbleness and thanked God for what he accomplished and didn't boast that he defeated Grendel.
