Due to the marginalized society present within Home, attention towards the black community could lead one to encounter issues that could be hazardous. One example of this type of encounter occurs in the very beginning of the book. We see Frank trying to escape from a mental hospital without getting caught by anyone. Later it becomes apparent that Frank was a soldier in the Korean War and now suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Frank gets put into the mental hospital after raging due to his PTSD. They believe that everything they wanted, they should be allowed to get without anything standing in their way. All of the suitors in the Odyssey believed that they had the right to try to pursue Odysseus’ wife, Penelope, even though they were unsure of whether or not Odysseus was actually dead or not. The suitors even tried to force Penelope to choose one of them before she was even ready to make a choice. In Home, when Cee gets operated on by the doctor, all of the women in the neighborhood come together in order to try to help Cee regain her strength and heal from the trauma produced from the doctor.
