In the Odyssey, Homer portrays the main character, Odysseus, as a genuine, and raw character that readers can relate to in his triumphs and downfalls as a leader through usage of figurative language and verbatim throughout the piece. He has many tribulations to deface, and through each of them, the author further develops him into a better, more fierce leader. This development is carried throughout the story, and shows that he, like everyone else, has things to work through in his character and still needs improvement as a person.
