He is very quick thinker and resourceful survivalist, as an epic hero. As this is shown throughout the incident of the cave of cyclops, he did some tricky things but as he could get out from that trap earlier but because of his craftiness, he loses some of his companions and trouble gone bigger. The results of his craftiness wind up being catastrophic. When he and his companions escaped by hanging on the underbellies of the sheep on the cave of cyclopes where they were save but because of his sense of pride become over inflated and he began to insult Polyphemus. Odysseus was continuously teasing the giant Cyclopes so that his superiority got the better of him even though his companions was trying to stop him.
