In the Odysseus’s life and experiences that he had to face relate to the tough experiences I and other teenagers have went through. Throughout the Odyssey, Odysseus had to choose really tough decisions just like me. Though he was on a journey to be re-united to the love of his life, and his son, and I am on my journey of life. Also, Odysseus’s problems might be a little more complicated than what i face, they still are hard to deal with. When I was born…
Today, I smiled as I held my one and only son, Odysseus, who recently turned ten years old. I could already tell he was destined for greatness, I can just feel it through the way he speaks, moves, and even the way he thinks just gives vibes of the wonders he will do. My son will someday take the role of king of Ithaca. Hopefully he will have a lovely wife and a son to carry the family name. Odysseus will lead us to excellence.…
“Your grandfather, Odysseus arrived at the swineherd’s house and reunited with his old friend, Eumaeus Eumaeus did not recognize him and only saw him as a beggar. Nonetheless, he welcomed Odysseus into his dwelling and fed him food and wine - remember son, we must welcome everyone to our homes, for we cannot anger Zeus, the host god. Eumaeus truly honored your grandfather and he talked on and on about his riches and his heroic journey to Troy. Even though he thought your grandfather will never return home he told him that he was still protective of his riches, and he was furious with your grandmother’s suitors freeloading of all the wealth and food you grandfather had.…
What makes somebody a good hero , in Homer's story The Odyssey a great powerful hero named Odysseus goes through many difficult trials on his return back home to his family. Odysseus is a hero because he kills all the men who tried to overcome his power. Odysseus kills the suitors because they didn't believe he would return home , when Odysseus was gone the suitors basically moved into his palace and treated his maids with disrespect. The suitors trashed Odysseus place and tried to take his place while he was gone. Odysseus led his men with his smartness and strength , Odysseus and his men won the battle of troy and still returned home after all his trials.…
When it comes to doing his/her job, a hero has many choices to make. The most important decision that a hero must make is deciding who to save- few, many, good, or bad. A hero cannot rescue everyone, so determining who to save and how many people to save is very difficult. For example, in The Odyssey, the main hero, Odysseus, has to face many difficult choices in order to get to his home in Ithaca. One of the most tiring choices that Odysseus has to make is deciding whether to pass Scylla or Charybdis.…
In the epic poem, The Odyssey by Homer, Antinous shows up about half way through the poem. It is in The Odyssey he is mean and doesn’t like Odysseus. Odysseus kills him in part four of The Odyssey. Antious shows in the poem that he is black-hearted, hated, and arrogant. Antinous in the epic poem is arrogant.…
In the Odyssey, Homer uses Odysseus’s journey to show how one’s journey can change them as a person. In this story there are many ways that the journey changes the character These are just a few some of the effect are large some are hardly noticeable. One way Odysseus’s journey has changed him as a person is he as become more violent. The narrator recounts, “Your last hour has come. You die in blood” (homer 1258).…
The Odyssey is one of the most read pieces of literature. But the novel often brings several conflicts over if Odysseus deserves the title hero. Odysseus is not a hero for the simple fact that he had no problem killing others to make his way home. Reading the novel thoroughly, it clearly states he is the King of Ithaca, but being a King does not mean you are worth the title or honor of a hero. At first Odysseus is labeled a hero mainly for his brilliant idea of the Trojan horse.…
Odysseus gives his men inspirational pep talks to keep them focused on their task ahead; returning home to Ithaca. “I know you would follow me now, you have always followed me. You are my warriors. We have suffered the loss of many men, and together, we’ve survived. -Odysseus. Odysseus gives this inspirational speech to his men right before he goes to see the blind prophet, Telemachus, in the underworld.…
Odysseus reunites with his father and regains his family and kingdom. After twenty years, risking his life and others, he manages to complete his mission sailing home from Troy. There’s 4 different types of journeys that Odysseus experienced; physical, mental, spiritual and emotional. Physical journey is the challenges and obstacles a traveller can face. Odysseus faced the Cyclops, Scylla and Charybdis, the Sirens, and etc.…
In the Odyssey, Odysseus travels a long journey back to his home, Ithaca, after fighting in the Trojan War for 10 long years. However, I strongly believe Odysseus himself was the reason that he witnessed a long journey returning to his homeland. If he hadn’t made specific decisions, I’d expect that Odysseus would be able to return earlier. In the epic, I believe that three major decisions could’ve helped Odysseus sail back towards home sooner if he had chosen the right choice. One of the significant decisions is Odysseus’ accord to rest on the Cyclops’ island and approach the Cyclops’ cave.…
In the epic poem, the Odyssey, written by Homer, it tells of the amazing feats performed by Odysseus. He goes on impossible adventures for the average man; He successfully leads his crew through the sea, or does he? Even though Odysseus may show that he is clever, he also shows that he does not listen, is very temperamental, and is untrustworthy; Because of these character traits, he cannot be an effective leader. To begin, Odysseus shows multiple times that he does not listen to his crew. His crew tries to warn him of the multiple dangers that were to come from his actions, yet he refuses to listen, putting several of his crew’s lives in danger, and even killing a few of them.…
What if the person one looks up to or longs to return is not the person they expect that person to be? In the Odyssey, by Homer, this is the case for Odysseus. He is not the man everyone thinks he is. To begin with, the epic the Odyssey is about the return of the “great” king of Ithaka, Odysseus, from the Trojan War. He spends ten years fighting the war and is now on his way home where he is creating tension that is prolonging his return to Ithaka.…
All of the encounters that I have describe in my essay are some of the event that made Odysseus change. After, the encounter with the Kyklops, Odysseus went from island to island for many years encountering many dangerous situations, which eventually cast all of his man lives. All those year allowed Odysseus to change the way he is, to become more patient, cautious, and a person who planned before doing something. This extreme change was shown, when Odysseus was finally able to get home to Ithika. Instead of immediately going home to his palace and wife, he disguise as a beggar.…
In this rather short account with long-lasting consequences, Paris caused great trouble as he broke the code of hospitality when being a guest of Menelaus. Menelaus, the husband to the fairest women in the world, Helen, had to venture to Crete and he trusted Paris to be a guest at his home with his wife as company. This trust was tarnished by Paris’s actions that followed. Although not many details were provided, and many theories exist of how the next events came about, it is reasonable to assume Paris fell in love with Menelaus’s goddess like wife and kidnapped her to Troy (Hamilton, “The Trojan War” 253-258). Hamilton references to a poem summarizing the ill hospitality, “Paris who coming, entered a friend’s kind dwelling, shamed the hand that gave him food, stealing away a woman” (Hamilton, “The Trojan War” 257). Consequently, when Menelaus arrived home to discover his wife missing, he called upon all of Greece to help him find and bring back his wife.…
