In “The Odyssey by Homer many characters disguise themselves as someone they are not as an act of trickery. They do this to hide who they really are. One of the greatest offenders of this is Odysseus. Odysseus changes his appearance many times, with the help of Athena, to confuse or fool others. Odysseus hides behind Athena’s magic when he is around Nausicaä. Odysseus disguises himself to others and by not staying true to who he is, showing us how insecure, childish, and immature he is. When Odysseus visits different locations on his way home to Ithaca, he often hides who he is and changes his appearance completely.
