Odysseus As An Epic Hero In Homer's Odyssey

Odysseus is the perfect hero. He is from the epic poem The Odyssey. written by Homer. The hero showed great courage, traveled to many exotic intresting islands, and was helped by a beautiful goddess. Odysseus is a great man. One thing this epic hero did was travel to many unknown exotic destinations. One of the areas he traveled to was Circes Island. This was very brave becuase Circe was an evil witch that hated men. Here Odysseus' men were turned into pigs and the epic hero had to solve a problem. Another exotic island the Man of Many Wiles traveled to was Calypsos Island. At Calypsos Island Odyesseus had to deal with many problems, including getting away from a somewhat crazy goddess Calypso. Also Odysseus traveled to Aeolia. Here he had more problems with his crew because they opened the present of wind making it even harder to get back home to Ithaca. Lastly he traveled to the Underworld to talk to Tiresias. Here Tiresias gave him some pointers on how to survive and get back home. One of the many time Athena helped Odysseus was when Odysseus was having trouble sailing in a storm. Odysseus got the advice to Abandon his ship and then swim in. At first he did not believe this but then he did it and Athena have him a shall to sail in. One of the more important things she did to help Odysseus was she helped him in the battle of the suitors. During the battle she was dressed up in one of her many disguises and was helping kill the opposing suitors. Lastly Athena helped him by disguising him to get info on the suitors. He was disguised as a old homeless beggar. When he was dressed up he asked questions and saw what everyone was doing with his money and who was faithful.
