The relationships we pursue and the habits we acquire are some of the most influential forces that can shape our character. The characteristics we hold shape our personality, but are they enough to determine whether or not we are a hero? In the book “The Odyssey” written by Homer, one of the main characters, Odysseus, goes through the life-threatening trials that make us wonder if he deserves the title of a hero or wrongdoer. However, the long journey he took back to his kingdom, Ithaca, only showed that Odysseus could lead and prevail. Although many may believe that Odysseus is not heroic because he made decisions beneficial to himself alone, Odysseus has demonstrated loyalty and determination; evidence of a true hero.
