Odysseus: A Strong Leader In Homer's The Odyssey

In The Odyssey by Homer Odysseus is a strong leader because he is always loyal to his men and can lead his men through the greatest of obstacles. Odysseus would never leave his men to die and puts his life on the line for them. One of Odysseus’s traits that make him a strong leader is his ability to inspire his men to steer them in the right direction through tough times. Odysseus says “[I] cheered my men along with battle talk to keep their courage up: no quitting now.”(408) In this quotation Odysseus shows the way he helps his men continue through the perilous task at hand. He convinces his men to keep on going and leads them when failure is not an option which makes him a strong leader. Likewise Odysseus is always devoted to his men.
