Oda Nobunaga played a significant part in Japan's history. He was a major daimyo who unified Japan under one shogun. Although he did not live to see it, he created a peace that lasted for a long time. A leader this powerful though, faced many challenges.

Oda Nobunaga was born in 1534, Owari Province, Japan into the Fujiwara family. He was the son of a noble warlord, his father, Oda Nobuhide. Nobunaga's father died unexpectedly when he was about 16 years old. As his son, Oda was to be the next head of the clan. Due to the power they had, many family members opposed the fact that Oda was to be the next head. Many wanted the power for themselves.

Oda's uncle, Oda Nobutomo, claimed the position himself. This angered Oda because it is his position to take, not his uncle's. With the help of another family member, they murdered Oda Nobutomo. When all seemed to be going as planned, someone else went against Oda. His own younger brother. The two fought and had multiple disputes for many years. Eventually, Oda faced his fate and killed his younger brother also. Oda Nobunaga finally solidified his control over the Oda clan.

“Things Fall Apart” by Chinua Achebe, is a novel about the tragic fall of Okonkwo, the protagonist, and the Igbo culture. The novel takes place in Umuofia, a village in the eastern part of Nigeria where the Igbo culture is seen. Religion and faith play a substantial role in the novel and are possibly the main reasons the novel plays out the way it does. If the religious and faith aspects of this novel were not as strong, then the novel may have turned out differently. Achebe shows how the prominence of religion and faith in the novel causes conflict and challenges with the white man when they come to Umuofia to the gradual downfall of the Igbo religion.…
