They asked questions about her childhood and how it affected her success as an actress. Octavia played Dorothy Vaughn, an African American mathematician who worked at NASA and is credited with helping send John Glenn into orbit. Octavia then goes on to discuss what it was growing up in Alabama from a race perspective. She said that her mother taught her that there were no limitations in her life except the barriers that she created herself. Keating and Mcniece mention that Octavia lost her mother when she was only 18 years old. However, Octavia gives her mother the credit for her ability to knock down barriers. This article goes on to discuss her hopes and dreams for her future. This article also gives a brief history of Katherine Johnson, the real person that Octavia played in the film. This review not only gives information about Octavia Spencer but it also discusses her role in Hidden Figures by using direct quotes and summaries from their interview. This not only helped promote Octavia Spencer, but also the film, Hidden Figures. However, when they interviewed Octavia I believe that they should have asked more questions about what she thought about her role, rather than asking about her love life. After the abduction and death of McKenzie‘s daughter, he loses faith in who his deceased daughter called “Papa”. One day McKenzie went outside after a snowstorm and saw a letter in the mail that is addressed “Papa”. He opens the letter and reads “meet me at the shack in two weeks”. He is then faced with a decision, does he go back to the place where his daughter died and potentially meet his daughter's killer or trust that God wrote the letter. Once Mackenzie decides to go to the shack he is greeted by Octavia Spencer who is “papa”. They discuss faith, and “Papa” answers many questions which changes Mack’s perspective on tragedy and life. In this movie, Hazeldine did a great job at portraying God as a kind and understanding person. The film was also very easy to follow. However, I wish that Mackenzie’s daughter would have been introduced earlier so that the viewer could have had a deeper understanding as to what Mackenzie was going through. Instead, the director focused on the connection between Mackenzie and “Papa”. This film will be useful when discussing Octavia Spencer’s role as an actress but it also provides a visual representation of how much passion she puts into each role she plays, especially in her role as God in the movie, The
