Reflections of himself through his wife and the other firemen makes him realise just how shallow everyone is and how oblivious they are to their own unhappiness. In the story “August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains” the role of nature is to take back what once belonged to nature. In the story the author writes “a failing tree bough crashed through the kitchen,” and “the room was ablaze” shows the beginning of the house fire. The author uses short sentences to emphasize how fast the fire started. Nature does this because once humans are gone, nature tries to remake the land that it used to be before there was humans living there. Also, “sent flames outside the house” and “up through the attic” shows that nature was not going to stop until it had fully swallowed the house.…

The more prominent the technology was, the more others can read other commodities online. Although people do not read books, it shows how people are not “in play” to interact with things other than an electric device, which introduces them to social solitude with the human life.…

In Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, the author predicted a future full of negativity along with carelessness which is shown by the teenagers in the novel that have meaningless conversation, are overly judgemental, get into trouble, and are consumed by their technology exactly like the teenagers of the current world. From the beginning, the readers can detect that Bradbury is showing his concerns for society by making it easy for them to see the similarities between the two like when Clarisse is discussing the conversations she has heard while observing at the subway or somewhere else. She notes that all of what she has heard is exactly the same -- each one is about nothing. No moments shared between one another are deep at all, skimming the shallow edge of things.…

Any and all progress in a society has its roots in individual people breaking away and demanding change. Without these differing views that promote discussion and innovation, we will be left blinded by by the rules already set before us by others, not daring to think outside the lines. The novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury contains just such a society, where all contradictory ideas and the books that held them have been gradually destroyed and banned, till none remain accessible to the common person. Free thought is no longer taught in schools, and human beings have been reduced to identical unthinking beings unaware of their own decline. The only way to regain true freedom and self-identity is to attain the courage to refuse to mindlessly…
