Interactions with atmospheric and geological environment Human impact on the ocean and vice versa

Communication Skills -- write reports and research papers. They need to be able to clearly present their ideas and findings to others who do not have a background in geosciences.

Detail-Oriented -- oceanographers work with a lot of data and need to be able to pick out the right information. Also when conducting research, have to be sure they are getting all their research well and of good quality.

Work environment(s)
Work on/with surface ships, satellites, aircrafts, underwater crafts and many other types of scientific equipment. Oceanographers may spend up to three months/year away from home. They can conduct field or work in an office where models and research is made.
Office -- research, writing reports, analysing data, creating models and communicating with team members and anyone associated with the oceanographer him/herself.
Lab -- testing and creating new technology, testing
