The theme of this short story is that important life lessons and family traditions can be learned from a child’s parents but that knowledge can be lost when the child chooses to forget what they have learned. The Wife of Bath Tale can be connected to life today and teaches a message that is universal, no matter the time period that everyone should learn. During the tale, a knight rapes a women and is given a quest in order to keep him from being beheaded.
