Imagine watching the NASA rockets take off in the 60s, watching people go where no man has gone before. The next great venture to Mars or even traveling through the depths of our oceans can be just as exciting. All we have to to is dare to go forth. We need to participate in the next major technological race, or we may fall behind both technologically and diplomatically. But how will this affect us scientifically? As we explore, we may stumble upon new laws of nature that apply deep in the oceans or on Mars. New scientific questions will also come up, such as: Was there intelligent life on Mars? If so , Who? What happened? When did they live? Where did they go? Why? How did they live? “Exploration is about knowledge, about expanding our horizons and answering questions we haven't even thought of yet” - (Craig McClain, pg. 1) That means that if we explore, we will never truly have answered all the questions of science. So scientifically, it will open up a whole new world of possibilities. …show more content…
Who will be the next Jacques Cousteau? What creatures lie beneath? When will we be able to map the ocean? Where will it take us scientifically? Why should we explore? How will we treat the oceans after exploration? “A new era of ocean exploration can yield discoveries that can inform everything from critical medical advances to sustainable forms of energy”. - (Philippe Cousteau, pg. 193) This means that if we explore the ocean, we could possibly have the answer to curing cancer or even solving world hunger with deep sea flora and fauna.
