“The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever,” an infamous marine biologist, Jacques-Yves Cousteau once said. He knew this spell well, enduring many dangerous marine trips in the waters surrounding his home country of France. The French-Marine explorer sailed around the world, learning about the organisms inhabiting it. This would not have been possible without his invention of scuba gear. Students study him in order to get a better understanding of marine biology.…

Once again we have echinoderms. Echinoderms are absolutely exclusive to the ocean and have no fresh-water or terrestrial based representatives. As for a possible reason why they are exclusive to marine habitats I would theorize that simply nothing of their relatives ever adapted towards land. Based on the theory that all life probably began deep within the ocean, even what life is now on land has ancient origins from the ocean. Though despite this there are still exclusive marine species because it seemed these life forms just never left the ocean.…

She did not participate in the study, though she supported the study and thought it was “an advance in the understanding of the ocean’s future”. The career I have chosen for this project is a biologist. The role of a biologist can consist of multiple different studies, but primarily focuses on living things. Some biologists study things as small as the molecules that form organisms, how they work, and how they combine to create a working living thing. Others take a look at the ecosystems that contain living things. Biology can include experiments in a lab, or hands-on field studies.…

Marine biology has always been a passion of mine ever since I first heard about it when I was four years old. My family has a deep-running connection to the ocean so when they realized how interested I was in science, they suggested marine biology. I loved the concept of studying unknown creatures that sit miles below the surface of our planet that no human has ever seen. I’ve read many textbooks and field guides over the years, which started as an amusing pastime. However, the more I read, the more I became completely and utterly engrossed in the subject which eventually shaped me into what I am today.…
