I believe strongly that a patient 's opinions should play a large role in their treatment. What works best for one individual may not be the best option for another. I understand that it may require some trial and error to determine what works best for a patient. I have no problem incorporating the preferences and suggestions of my patients, and looking for a unique solution that will help to improve their condition. In the past, I always sought to understand the people who I work with on a personal level, as I believe that it allows me to tailor my own work to suit their personal goals. I also have a strong understanding of the process that is involved when putting new research into play. Through my undergraduate coursework, I have learned about the importance of implementing evidence-based practices in all areas of the medical field. I know how to judge the validity of past research, and believe that I will be able to make well-grounded decisions when it comes to using new methods of treatment. It is important for a therapist to continually educate themselves throughout their career. I am eager to evaluate and use new methods that may be beneficial for the people that I work with. I am from Perrysburg, a suburb of Toledo, and have always had a connection to the city. Growing up, I had the opportunity to enjoy the many festivals and sporting events that brought the city together. I also had the chance to serve individuals in the city who needed assistance, at places like the Cherry Street Mission. I have, firsthand, seen some of the great resources and opportunities that are available to individuals in the Toledo area. I have also seen the need for assistance in some areas of the city. By starting my career in the city of Toledo, I hope to serve those who I grew up around, and give back to a city that made my childhood memorable.
I believe that I fit in with both the written goals and values of The University of Toledo, and with the people at this university. I have visited the university 's medical campus multiple times and every time I was impressed by the welcoming atmosphere and the pleasant, professional staff. Although I am glad to have had the chance to live away from the area during my undergraduate career, I hope to return to Toledo and be a Rocket next
