Does consultation on fine motor developmental play increase a preschool teacher’s self-rated competency in creating developmental motor enriched environments?

The occupational therapy practitioner’s EBOT project includes using a pretest and post-test survey instrument to help measure teacher confidence related to knowledge of fine motor development and creating activities to help their students gain fine motor skills. The respondents include the eight preschool teachers at Mineral Springs, United Methodist Church Preschool who teach the 3-year-old and 4-year-old classes as well as the Preschool Director and Children’s Minister who have both indicated an interest in attending the consultation sessions. The sample size is one of convenience in that it will be the teachers of the selected classes who have agreed to participate in the EBOT project and the two directors which is a total of 10 participants. Onsight survey completion decreases the time commitment on the part of the preschool teachers, increases rate of participation, as well as increasing rate of return and is convenient. Using paper surveys allows individuals to complete the survey without additional sources like the internet and computers. The occupational therapy practitioner will provide instructions on completion of the survey and then step outside of the room to allow teachers to complete surveys without being observed. Teachers will have survey, pen and an envelope to place the completed survey into when finished provided by the occupational therapy
