INTRODUCTION
The Nigerian military as we know it is one of the major vantage points of our national security as a nation. Our military personnel have been groomed to be disciplined, law abiding and vigilant. The simulation exercises and training procedures included in the training process have been designed to enforce these traits. Looking at the Nigerian military today, in our present time, some may have observed that the military is not as efficient and as effective as they used to be. Now, the unnecessary uses of brute force as opposed to tactical and innovative steps are being taken to enforce the laws. A majority (60%) reported suffering from significant work stress. Almost half (42.5%) reported that work stress was a significant contributor to the onset of their mental illness” (Planz, 2001). This was gotten from the findings of a research carried out by Plfanz, S., in 2001, titled; Occupational stress and psychiatric illness in the military: investigation of the relationship between occupational stress and mental illness among military mental health patients.
