Workplace has never been a safest place, albeit all the new innovative technology, financial investment and skilled manpower the safety and health of the workers still remain ambiguous. In 2013 alone, more than 2.3 million worker succumbed in workplace and work related fatalities and many more work related injuries and illnesses (ILO, 2013). Globally, entire workforce is crying out for effective safety management system and historically, after the major accident of Flixborough in 1974 and other incidents like Seveso (1976) and Piper alpha(1988)the organizational need to develop safety management system grew and since then the requirement of occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS) has been enforced and studied (Hudson, 2001).

There were different variables associated with OHSMS in these study and if the variable were implicated properly then there was significant improvement in the safety of the workers. Similar study conducted by NIOSH also showed a distinguishing feature among safety and work related illness, likewise in UK, study showed there have been a significant difference in the health of the worker especially in field of ergonomics and work related stress (HSE, 2003). Similarly Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) also found similar result in their review as incorporation of OHSMS in business does improve safety in high risk industries (NTSB, 2011-12).Likewise, Robson systematic review of OHSMS literature found improvement in the perception of worker which further will be help in the improvement of health and safety (Robson et al., 2007). Involving every member of organization will help minimize the risk in each levels and help build a strong relationship among the worker as the motive of work will be the same(Seabrook, 2001). Adhering to OHSMS will further boost the confidence and enhance the performance and productivity of the organization (O 'Connell, 2004). Other benefit that company can gain from OHSMS is their reputation among customer, stakeholder and community(O 'Connell, 2004) and believes this will help built rapport with other organization too.
