The decision to obtain my degree is one that has given me much pride, however the decision I made to leave a great job (that I enjoyed very much), pack up and leave my home to pursue a position within my degree field has been one of much regret. It has taken almost a year, 100+ resumes, and 3 interviews for me to receive an explanation. All of my work that I did with historic preservation along with being elected by the great citizens of Black Hawk and Central City to the sanitation district board was in vain. Those experiences has been all for not and has been discarded as nonexistent. Therefore I have come to the conclusion that I chose a path that was the best for me due to the nature of my degree and my passion for public service however,

In January 2014, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Paralegal Studies. After completing my externship I knew that I had chosen the wrong career. I thought I would be interacting more with clients, but instead I was behind a desk majority of the day completing research and preparing documents. I was hoping to be involved with helping individuals find solitude and happiness, such as finding treatments for addicts or finding safe homes for children who were removed from their home, but it seemed that every case had a sad ending without much help or guidance. I knew that there was no way I could live the rest of my life in a career that I did not agree with.…

Not only that, but it receiving this money would encourage me to apply and search for other like scholarships in the aree or online. I feel that my master status, described in our textbook as the most important status that a person occupies, is college student. Having retired from my previous career I decided that I needed a new direction in my life, that being said I decided to return to school after receiving my A.A. degree nearly 20 years ago changing my master status from retiree to college student. The website I chose relating to my master status is the UCF online Rules of Student Conduct and Online Expectations at https://online.ucf.edu/learn-online/online-course-protocols/. I feel that role expectations for a mature returning student participating in online classes, such as myself, are different from role expectations in a physical classroom.…

Achieving a degree in the Arts involves taking courses in what are traditionally referred to as the “liberal arts”. The main area of study for these courses are literature, art history, philosophy, economics, languages, and so on. I jumped at the chance to add class president to my college resume. At the time that’s the only reason why I took the position. On the contrary, I take my responsibilities completely and utterly serious, and I do whatever it takes to be the leader they deserve, but I recently realized that everything I have done throughout life I have gained personally from. With my experience of being class president, a wrestling manager, and hearing stories of reality versus my fairy-tale image of life I have come to the conclusion that everything I have strived for in high school is not what I want to strive for in life.…

    A. A University education will affect my current family/personal situation by giving me the chance to have the opportunities my parents never had when it came to occupations and success in the workplace. I have seen the way my parents have struggled finding well paying jobs when they have found themselves out of work and how not having a college education has limited them to what they are able to do. I never want to have to worry about not being able to find a job just because I do not have a college education or having to settle and do a job that I do not enjoy just to make ends meet like I have seen both of my parents go through throughout my childhood. A degree will impact my future through giving me the advantage of having a degree when…

Things were never to easy for my family. Although my mother was gorgeous, giving and loving, she suffered from severe mental illness and comited suicide when my twin and I were simply sixteen. Six years ago, at the age of 24, I decided to go to rehab and I began writing all of the time.…

Being involved with my community is very imperative because it allows me to give back to the city that has raised me for the past eighteen years and help that same city prosper for future generations. Helping others is/has always been/will always be one of the most enjoyable things I could do if awarded with a degree. If granted with a degree, no matter what the certificate may be for or of, there will always be a way to help and impact another person’s life. There is no level of degree that will put me above others in the sense of assistance or involvement with the community, but having a degree does allow me to expand the range of help I can lend and insight I can teach for those who may be lost and confused. Personally, lending a helping hand is he most delightful and caring things someone can do for someone else because it does not just benefit them, but can…

Having a 3.2 cumulative GPA as my midterm grade is a good start to college, I believe. For the fall semester I am enrolled in Biology 160, Biology 132, Philosophy 112, General Chemistry 101, and University 100 totaling up to fourteen credit hours. Being enrolled in three sciences I do not have the expectation to be a perfect student and have all A’s in those classes simply because those are more difficult classes. For Philosophy 112 and University 100 I do expect to maintain an A throughout the rest of the semester, because my grades are based on participation in activities and assignments.…
