Almost ninety percent of the population aged between thirteen and thirty reported being on the cellphone before bed as opposed to about forty percent of the older citizens. Fifty eight percent of respondents reported that they text, set their phones alarm clock, talk on the phone, go on the internet, check their email, listen to music, play games, or watch videos a few nights a week as they get ready for bed. A shocking forty three percent admitted to doing at least one of these activities on their cellphones every or almost every night (NSF 28). Sixty one percent of the people interviewed said that they often used a computer in the hour before trying to fall asleep, and out of that percentage fifty six percent reported getting on the internet, emailing, watching videos, listening to music, instant messaging, Skyping, or using word processing or spreadsheet software (NSF 33).
