In my family as well as in a majority of families across the country college is a must. I always knew, even in my youth, that after I finished high school I would be getting ready for a four year college experience. It was pretty much a no-brainer. My parents preached to me how competitive the world is becoming and the only way to succeed is with a college degree. I told myself that I decided to go to college solely to please my parents but deep down I knew I felt obligated to go for myself. I wanted to have a successful future and gain an education that would broaden my outlook on life. The main obstacle I encountered and that many students also have to deal with is money. It had all the qualities I wanted in a school and even some that I never thought I would enjoy. Loyola has a great business school which would help me excel in my accounting career. In addition, I enjoyed the idea of the small class structure so I could build a strong relationship with my professors. The most unexpected quality I liked was that it was a liberal arts school. I found that the core classes like philosophy and theology, classes I never took in high school, would help me expand my thinking. Plus being exposed to Catholic teachings would help me develop a more spiritual identity. After deciding on Loyola the only thing I lacked was figuring out my major. I always knew that I wanted to be part of the business world. My mom’s job as an accountant and my dad’s as a stock broker caused me to develop a profound interest in the field of business. In addition, I wanted to have a job that would be around for a while despite the latest technological inventions. It was not hard to make my decision to be an accounting major with my mom ranting on and on about the high demand for new accountants and my developing interest in a high school accounting class. I soon fell in love with learning about different financial reports and managing business accounts. It may sound weird but to me its very interesting and
