One obstacle that Parvana faces is losing her father. On page 31 in the book, Parvana’s father is taken away and arrested by the taliban. This is a big obstacle because Parvana’s father was the provider for the family. He was the one who makes all of the money and buys the food. This means that Parvana now has to take father’s place as the head of the family, because Parvana is the only one in her family who is not scared to go outside and she is the only one who is strong enough. Next, on page 41, Parvana and her mother try to get father back from jail. They do this because they love father and they need him back at home.
