The obstacles and predicaments we face in life are not only a test for our strength, but a way to learn and grow as individuals. It was a beautiful spring day, right when the weather was starting to break into that summertime feel. The day was normal and I was ready to head home from school, when I was told by administration there was a fire at my house. I couldn’t even comprehend what I heard, one of the very few times where, I actually had nothing to say. Since that day my life has taken a 180 degree turn for the better, strengthening me for future obstacles in my life and making realize how many things we, as people, take for granted. This was the biggest obstacle I had to overcome in my life. Everything in my basement was destroyed and it was hard because there were so many items that I had so many memories with. Your home is one of the most important things in your life, well thats what I finally realize now. Knowing how special your house is to you is something I took for granted up until that day. Your home is somewhere you feel safe all of the time, somewhere where you can let out any emotions stuck inside of you, somewhere that holds memories upon memories. Everyday was hard, from not knowing where I’m going to stay that night to thinking about what will be my next step. My life has changed drastically since that day. As cliche as it sounds, the biggest takeaway from this was that no matter what your situation is, you cant quit. In any time of trouble you may be in, you must maintain a positive attitude, this is something I have tried to do everyday. No matter what has happened to me on any given day, I try to stay positive and keep moving on. In today’s world it is very easy to be negative and get down on yourself.
