Obstacles In High School

Great Essays
High school to me felt no different than of the other eight years of school I had endured. The difference being, that now my grades mattered and would determine if I would go to college. For me, issues like anxiety and depression were not a problem. I had no issues getting good grades as long as I actually tried. My two largest obstacles in school were procrastination and poor organization and both of these issues would not help when I was placed in a math class with a very difficult and disorganized teacher. Procrastination is my first major problem. I would put off my homework to do other things and would in turn never finish the assignment. Procrastination would always strike worse during writing assignments. I hate writing with a passion! Initiating writing the the first sentence was always the largest obstacle of a writing assignment. Trying to stay on task was the other obstacle. Anything could distract me easily such as video games, pencils, fidgeting etc. I have even lied to my parents …show more content…
Even though most of those problems are my fault they were no less a problem. For me my laziness and procrastination especially when it comes to writing is not an easy thing to change. I just have to continue to work on organization and breaking work especially written work into small steps and force myself to complete those steps each day. Lastly my procrastination and laziness lead to a terrible junior year when I almost failed math. My teacher was even more disorganized than myself which made his class very stressful. My laziness, disorganization and difficult math teacher were all obstacles I had to overcome to achieve graduation. Hopefully in college, I will be better at organization and setting small goals to complete written work so that I can be successful. Also if I have a terribly disorganized teacher, I need to get out of that class

Life is an everlasting journey of growth and development. In order to grow we must first admit to our faults, and stop engaging in behaviors that hinder us from becoming a better version of ourselves. Self- destructive tendencies plagues our society, and it’s easy to become discouraged by the hate and malicious behaviors inflicted on civilians from law enforcement officers. The mass media only covers half of the story, and the likelihood of the story being the truth, is slim to none. Ever since I could remember, I have always had a passion for helping others.…

The first appearance of my procrastination was in 7th grade with my history class at the time. I was not fond the teacher in that class, so I would put off the work, and lie about forgetting it at home. With my other classes I was doing the schoolwork, but I just shirked the homework for my history class. The late homework in that class just kept piling up. Eventually, it reached the point where my late work was in, but the newer work was still being put off.…

Self-discipline was hard to overcome because I would rather go out to hang out with friends instead of doing homework. There were some days that I would stay up until two o’clock the next morning more doing homework for class. Time management wasn’t an easy obstacle to accomplish due to that there was no set schedule for me to complete the necessary tasks, such as homework for either English or AAA 109. I improved my student habits by using a day planner to set time aside to do certain assignments for school and prioritize non-related school tasks. I do homework first before going out with my friends.…

From the very moment I procrastinated, I knew that the only result ahead was a failure. When attending a school you are always told to plan ahead of time by being organized. However, I always preferred handling my academic work at a snail 's pace. Simply said, I procrastinated leaving everything to the last minute. For some people, being under pressure they tend to produce better results, but on the contrary that is never always the case.…
