Dealings in Conflict in Reality and Fiction Conflict is consistent throughout the world. It is seen everywhere: in the news to private life, in fiction to reality. This much conflict can be a burden, and oftentimes, it is hard to find a way to deal with conflict safely and effectively. To live responsibly and safely in a world with conflict, one must become aware of the situation, stand up for one’s beliefs regarding said situation, and exhibit empathy and support for others affected by the conflict. These methods of living in conflict are shown in real life as well as literature, such as in the novels “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury, “A Tale of Two Cities” by Charles Dickens, and “A Separate Peace” by John Knowles.…

Koresland, Shaphan Professor Dan Lainer-Vos Soci 210A: Science, Technology and Social Conflict October 8, 2014 Midterm Short Essay When it comes to the argument between Niels and Erica it is fairly obvious that they both have valid points. Erica seems to be arguing that medical research involving mice has reached a point where she feels the anomalies of the research has hit a tipping point. She believes that there needs to be a shift in the current paradigm. Niels on the other hand argues that we have benefitted greatly from the research derived from the use of mice as the core lab animal. The two do not seem to be arguing directly against each other, but rather they seem to be viewing the article from different perspectives within the progress…

Though in my life the situation is not as extreme because I have a nice home, food and other commodities that they didn’t have, I have been lucky enough to bond with people like they did. I dance. I have since I was six or seven. And I’ve found that when you dance with people you really bond because you rely so much on each other just like how those boys relied on each other.…

The news of police officers murdering unarmed black children is a social issue that can be explained using conflict perspective. While the killing of police officers by citizens is a problem that the interactionist perspective can provide better insight on. Both social issues could be examined by either perspective but a stronger understanding of the issues will be achieved by looking through the lenses of the two. Conflict perspective views society as “characterized by tension and struggle between groups” and there is undoubtedly tension between whites and blacks in America stemming from centuries of societal inequality.…
