Obsessions are the unwanted thought or ideas or images that the person doesn't want to have, and they can't a stop it from coming to mind, so it causes a lot of anxiety and stress to the person. Compulsions are the second part of obsessive compulsive disorder. Compulsions are repetitive.(Gail Steketee & Judy Lan 2012) They find it only as a temporary decision as it will only stop there obsession that one time and when the obsession comes back they will be compelled to do what stops the urge again. Compulsions can sometimes avoid the trigger or an obsession so that helps in a some way with minimizing the damage of obsessions. People with OCD can resist the urge to a compulsion, but you cannot resist the urge of an obsessive thought.(Gorrindo 2017) Some examples of obsessions range from the fear of germs, aggressive thoughts, the need for something to be perfect. The most effective treatment for OCD is known as cognitive behavior treatment (BPT) or medication. Exposure and response treatment is most well known for treating OCD as it is known in studies done. There is also medication that you can take called serotonin reuptake inhibitors known as SRI. This type of therapy is meant to desensitize fears so that it won't trigger your warning that much as before you wouldn't be scared of triggering them as were beforehand. Repeatingly facings one fears it desensitized the patient and shows the patient how to handle the uncomfortableness to it and by that it reduces the patients' anxiety when approaching similar types of situations. Patients must build a tolerance for it because it will help them in the future and they won't have to be scare of the fear anymore. After the training is done the person instead of just being in flight mode with the situation they'll be in a different mindset. (the anxiety treatment center). Some people with OCD will even turn to drugs or alcohol as a remedy to help them with the disorder even though not proven to help out
