1. The name of a serious mental health disorder is Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). 2. Obsessive Compulsive disorder is considered a generalized anxiety disorder because, people with the disorder commonly have severe anxiety when their obsessions and compulsions are afflicting their mind. This disorder has also been associated with an Impulse control disorder, but because OCD is not considered an impulse or an action that is taken hastily, OCD is deemed as an anxiety disorder. OCD is considered an uncontrollable urge not an impulse.

People with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder suffer from a wide variety of obsessions but, most people follow similar symptoms. Their symptoms included obsessive, continual, thoughts that keep reoccurring causing the person anxiety. Then, the patient proceeds to follow a compulsive act to help ease the anxiety temporarily. People with OCD feel that they have no control over the obsessions and compulsions. Some common obsessions include fearing germs, constantly checking locked doors and ovens tying to feel safe. More examples include, ordering objects in a particular way and constantly uncontrollably counting. People with OCD spend at least an hour a day obsessing. One of the most common treatments is medication. Medications like clomipramine, fluvoxamine and sertraline can help decrease the OCD anxiety. Another treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy. It helps patients face their obsessions and learn how to relax and to respond to the anxiety. Recently, there has been therapy for OCD called deep brain stimulation. This treatment is a surgery that puts an electrode in the part of the brain where the obsession originates. Then, the electrode is attached to a pulse generator. The generator creates pulses that stops the part of the brain that causes obsessions and
