Observing My Classroom Analysis

I loved your class. I am a major foody and really enjoy the varies food from different countries we sampled. The course load was light and simple, out of the whole semester we only had to do five assignments. The discussion format gave each student an equal opportunity to voice their opinion. Observing the group projects was also informative. This class open my eyes to the different countries that may be displayed in my future classrooms. The school systems in other countries operate differently from the school system in the United States.
The group project was so much fun; at times, it was a little stressful. However, the overall experience was very enlightening. Learning about Mexican culture was so much fun. I’ve always heard of Cancun was

The content material that stood out to me most this week of that of the Ted Talk of the experiences of Japanese Americans during the war and also the experiences of Native Americans. I think this is extremely beneficial to my learning process as I frequently consider the perspectives of the African American and Latino population, but rarely are the experiences of Asian Americans and Native Americans at the forefront of my mind. In addition, the Classroom Divided was also impactful as I have also seen videos with Jane in the past and her work is greatly depicts the oppression and discrimination experiences by minority groups. The usage of the blue eyed vs brown eyed people experiment is extremely powerful and a great representation of what…

Molly Clark is a woman with a background in commercial art who was hired to teach for the first time at an all girls private school. She was hired due to her interdisciplinary model lesson that she taught during her interview that the school thought was very creative. Clark was placed in a eleventh grade English class and given the difficult task to have her students read the play, Macbeth, by Shakespeare (Silverman, Welty, & Lyon, 1996, p.77). Although Clark was initially told she would be able to choose what literature was covered in her class, the principal forced Clark to cover Shakespeare in her class. Clark felt very overwhelmed with this task for a multitude of reasons.…

I had the pleasure of teaching Sara in her 11th grade honors English class at Mark Twain High School. From the first day of class, Sara impressed me with her ability to be articulate about difficult concepts and texts, her sensitivity to the nuances within literature, and her passion for reading, writing, and creative expression- both in and out of the classroom. Sara is a talented literary critic and poet, and she has my highest recommendation as a student and writer. Sara is talented at considering the subleties within literature and the purpose behind authors' works. She produced an extraordinary year-long thesis paper on creative identity development, in which she compared works from three different time periods and synthesized cultural and historical perspectives to inform her analysis.…

Compared to the beginning of The Principle of Nutrition Course Symone’s diet has changed a little but not as much as it should have changed. There is still a lot of work that must be done to gain a healthy lifestyle and to reach the specific targets for the main food groups on (Super Tracker, 2015) website. Since the beginning of the semester Symone has not been eating as much fast food as in the beginning when every other day fast food was something that her diet consisted of between Chick Fila, McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s and more. Comparing her three day diet analysis I would say that she has cut down eating out at fast food restaurants to about two – three times a week. After taking this course I would say that Symone is more aware…

The past eleven years at Seton Catholic School have offered me the opportunity to hone my teaching skills. I have been involved in several different aspects of education, such as implementing the 1-to-1 laptop initiative. Middle school students are a unique group of learners. In addition to academics, they are also experiencing a lot of emotional and social growth. A middle school teacher must recognize the unique challenges of each student to maximize their academic growth.…

Reflection Paper - Final Exam After taking six years of English through high school, two from a local college, I didn’t think I could ever be surprised by what is essentially a writing class, this class proved that wrong in more than one way. I would start by saying that I don’t believe this class made me a better overall, a better blogger perhaps but I don’t think my writing knowledge has “increased”. I do however think that this class has expanded my mind to blogging and has brought me from a skeptical skeptic to a skeptical believer. Coming into the class I wasn’t expecting to be insanely engaged, after having the class selected to me by my adviser and being one of the two only guys in the class I was just hoping to finish up my last UCOR…

Don’t talk back to teacher, by Chris McGreal– Short text, article Don’t talk back to teacher, by Chris McGreal, is an article about the controversial subject of the presence of armed police in public schools across the United States of America. The article covers multiple stories about students who have been “unfairly” prosecuted by onsite policemen, which helped me to sympathize with these students, who have potentially had their reputations tarnished for minor offences. The article shows us how legislation in some American schools can stop kids from “just being kids”, while the disciplinary experience is more traumatizing the useful. This article got me thinking about tragic events such as school shootings in America, where an onsite policeman…

Successful differentiation is all about proper planning. If a lesson is well planned and well organized, the chances of it being difficult or going awry are significantly reduced. For me, one of the simplest ways to differentiate my lessons has been in regards to individualized pacing. Making this possible, and manageable, took a few years, however, I have it down to a workable system that allows students to work at their own pace, to an extent, without creating chaos in my classroom or adding undue stress to my workload. While I believe in students having the time they need to successfully complete an assignment, I am also a firm believer in hard deadlines and learning time management skills.…
