Over the last decade strides have been made to change societal ideals and norms but research shows discrimination among particular groups remains high. The results of a study done by The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force shows that members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community experience high rates of discrimination and violence (Grant et al., 2011). The patterns to marriage have become increasingly diverse. For example, “about two-thirds of people who marry have lived together (cohabitated) first” (Cohen 2015:260). Another trend is that many marriages in the United States are remarriages. This is partly due to high divorce rates and that remarriage has become more acceptable. Rates of people of the same gender marrying and cohabitating together have increased due to the rising acceptance of sex-sex couples in society as well as the law.…

Beginning with the single parent families the myth is that single parent families are only a new trend when really they’ve been around for centuries. Similarly, step families which one would think is a recent idea has also been around since the 19th century due to the high death rate which increased the chances of remarrying and combining families. This statement is more accurate than perspective one which talks about how parents worry about their daughters being overweight more than their sons because girls can be more cruel. This doesn't really give the reason for parents wanting their sons to be more smart.…
