Operant Learning And Punishment Analysis

started working she was always the one who picked me up from school and helped me, helped me with homework and would play with me until one of my parents were off of work. My grandma, although strict, was always sweet. She would always try to teach me what it meant to be a lady. Operant learning, which is learning through the use of rewards and punishments, had a big impact on me growing up. My mom and dad would give me the reward of allowance for doing chores. If I got good grades they would take me for ice cream or let me pick where we went out to dinner one day. My parents also used punishments for misbehavior. When I was a child the punishments would be loss of toys, TV or junk food. When I became a teenager the punishments changed to my phone or laptop being taken away or not being allowed to go out with my friends. Observational methods of learning through modeling effected my behavior as a child. Being the oldest child and grandchild I did not have any kids in my family to look up to. There for I typically looked to my mom for modeling. It was through her I learned to cook and clean. I also learned a lot about things she was interested in like psychology because I would ask her what she was reading and talk to her about it. I was always a very curious child so I would ask “why” a lot. I also really liked to understand other people’s viewpoints. My parents would encourage this by always giving me an age appropriate but honest answer. They also encouraged this by asking me why I did a certain thing or why I thought someone else did a certain thing. This has followed me to my adult life. I am always asking myself why things are the way they are or why certain people do certain things. I also ask questions of myself a lot. I feel like it is important to really think about all sides of situations before making
