Professor Agassiz Research Paper

Great Essays
English 2 Final Exam
Professor Agassiz is a very open minded and stubborn yet inspiring teacher. He not only expected the most out of his students but didn’t mind waiting for the students to develop their minds where their observational skills would come in handy to the full potential. He would leave the learning part to the student, not because he didn’t want to do the teaching but because he believed the student knew what to do all along. He just wanted the student to take their time and reach their full potential. I have also had a teacher quite like Professor Agassiz before. At first it is pretty frustrating to

This statement of his is fully driven by belief rather than fact due to how Gandhi believes he is prepared to die and believes that there is no cause for which he would be prepared to kill. He used fairly obvious deductive reasoning here by stating his belief and following it on with back up for his belief.
It would be more likely to be true with the news article presented, however, it still wouldn't be believable or reliable to a critical thinker due to the lack of evidence behind the image. There is no way of proving that the “Eighty-Seven-Year-Old Grandmother” in the Chicago Tribune photocopy is Charlie’s same Eighty-Seven-Year-Old Grandmother. The image itself is not enough evidence to prove that they are the same woman. It would be far more reliable if the article itself named the woman in the photocopy instead of just labeling her as an “Eighty-Seven-Year-Old

Anita Ross Professor Jordan EN201 19 October 2017 "Shout" By Dagoberto Gilb A Historical Criticism There are many stories written about growing up in tough economic times and the struggles faced by blue-collar families. This semester I had the pleasure of reading a story that stuck in my mind as one of the better ones. In “Shout”, Dagoberto Gilb pulls from stories of his childhood, his Mexican/American upbringing and the economic effects of the “Regan Recession” to portray a blue-collar worker and his families struggles to do what is necessary to make ends meet during the 1980’s, a time of economic recession. The feeling and emotions throughout Gilb’s story are as much a part of the “Reagan Recession” as what many went through…

In all my years of education, no teacher has inspired me in a subject as much as Mr. Karmali, my calculus teacher in my senior year of high school. Mehebub S. Karmali, was a old asian-indian, in his mid sixties, who was proud to be teaching high school students the concepts of calculus. At the beginning of the year, I thought that he would be my worst nightmare from how my sister, and my upperclassmen friends talked about him. However, at the end of the year, I realized he was the complete opposite, he was the most dedicated teacher in the entire school. He was not just being strict, giving hard tests, or giving terrible grades because he wanted to be mean, he was passionate about the subject, and was dedicated to teach the students.…

Nineteen twenty-nine was a desperate time for most Americans, and especially hard on the African American population. World War One ended in 1918 and federal spending was three times larger than tax collections. Families were forced apart; suffering from hunger and foreclosed homes. There was a decrease in jobs, and to make matters worse, people of color also faced discrimination. Some say, the people in the bottom 80% of the income bracket were lucky because they did not have to pay taxes.…

Students learned how to dodge chalk and cover their heads and stomachs whenever they were asked a question by the angry French teacher (Dedaris, 2000). This piece of evidence supports the author's goal because it describes what the character goes through while in the process of learning French. It's an event in the article that goes over the fear the character and students had at answering a question wrong. I think this key point is essential in the article, because it's the main part of the struggle. There can be no accomplishment if the character did not go through something in the first place.…
