Chipotle’s interdependence is strong. They perform better as a small group with more people. Interdependence is define as “the process by which a change in one part affects the other parts”. What influenced my assessments was when two others came in at noon. One of the two got to work on the assembly line which meant the order taker could get to customers faster since he was also juggling online orders.…

Intro/Background http://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2015-chipotle-oral-history/ Chipotle Mexican Grill was founded by Steve Ells in 1993. The concept of the restaurant was inspired by the foil wrapped mission-style burritos Steve ate while working in San Francisco, California. When he proposed the idea to his friends and family, they were not too supportive about it. His dad’s response was “So you have six years of pretty expensive schooling here, and it's going to be burritos and tacos? Are you serious?”.…

These incidents include an E. coli outbreak in several states, a norovirus breakout at a restaurant in Brighton, Massachusetts, and other stray cases throughout the country. I was never a big McDonalds, Burger or Wendy’s person, but two places that I have loved since my first bite are Chipotle and Chick-Fil-A. Pregame meals are an important part of most sports fans’ gameday routine. My routine involves eating a Chipotle burrito bowl in front of my television prior to Tampa Bay Lightning ice hockey games. I do this in good faith that my routine will lead the Bolts, as they are dubbed, to victory. Gameday Chipotle just seemed to fit because after all, hockey is a sport full of superstition and protein-crunching athletes. By 6:30 on Saturday evening, I was ready.…

In the twenty-first century we have become ingrained in a culture through which McDonaldized systems (through rules, regulations and scripts), have ultimately come to threaten the ability of those involved to think intelligently (Ritzer, 1998). It is clearly dehumanizing to find oneself mindlessly functioning like a robot within corporately structured systems. Chipotle's advertisement (2013), promotes themselves as a company that has been able to detach from the demanding, hegemonic structure, which further promotes an image of the company that is not “real” or “true”. McDonaldization of the food industry and the lack of control a person has over what is in the food they eat has created a runaway juggernaut.…
