She stated CT is a pleasure to have in the class and she is participating in all instructional activities. While MT was in the classroom, CT was instructed along with her peers to read an article and then present it as if they was the teacher. CT was to allow her peers to read the aloud and asked them questions pertaining to the article of her choosing. CT did an excellent job relaying the information to her peers and showed patience with her classmates when they was answering the questions. MT drove CT home after school and she was quiet the entire time.

Katie Kelley, Lewis Kelley's mother, called this afternoon requesting additional information about an incident that occurred in your 8th period Advisory class. She states that Lewis was threatened with ASD, and that he isn't sure exactly what he had done. I explained to Mrs. Kelley that Lewis had not been assigned ASD, but that I'm pretty confident he must have been exhibiting undesirable classroom behavior for you to warn him about ASD as a potential consequence for his behavior. I informed his mother that I was unfamiliar with the incident, but I suggested that she speak with you to get a more accurate account of exactly what happened as opposed to just taking Lewis's version of events as gospel. I'm requesting that you attempt to make…

    1. Mrs. Carroll decided that day to begin ISTEP preparation with the students, using an audio book on the computer and a booklet for the students to study. This was not the case because I had trouble finding two teachers that had taught an ELL student and I believe it was because we live in an area that does not have many ELL students. After asking a few teachers their experiences with working with ELL students, I finally found two teachers that both gave me a great answers to the interview questions. The first teacher I interviewed had an experience in two different placements in Ottumwa. I can empathize with teachers who say that the observation and evaluation process does not seem reciprocal in nature. Most of my follow-up evaluations have either been waived or conducted in five minutes or less in which the principal hits upon the highlights of my observation. Very few teaching lessons have been learned through these interactions. In her article though, Shelly Arneson includes sound practices that can be implemented to alleviate many of the concerns of the evaluation process. Her basic premise is to shift the dialogue from inspection-based conversation to a reflection-based conversation.…
