Observation Of Psych

Decent Essays
Psych is one of my favorite shows of all time. It focuses on a man named Shawn Spencer has fine-tuned observation skills that amazed the Santa Barbara Police Department. The SBPD is so impressed by Shawn that they think he is psychic, even though his father just taught him to be extremely observant when he was a child. Shawn runs into some problems with the police but he convinces them to hire him and his friend Gus as consultants to help solve cases. The show is full of humor and provides relief from all of the extremely serious crime shows, which makes it one of my top shows.

Positive Psych Extra Credit #1 - Fairness, equity, and justice – I was surprised that my top strength came out to be, I thought it would be Judgment, critical thinking, and open-mindedness. I am a fair person and treat others like how I would want to be treated, but even more than that people are people, with feelings and we are all different and complex. There’s not a right wat to act, the way in which you live is influence by your actions and the way you think, what is right and wrong. Therefore, I try to not make judgement of other people on how they dress and act. I asked my older sister if this trait best characterizes me and she said yes.…

Christina DeFiori The chapter Psychics and Scientists begins with a very thoughtful example to explain precognition. We have all had an instance when we thought about a person and then the phone buzzes and it magically appears to be that person. Of course this coincidence seems like a big deal and might even make people say the line, “I must be psychic.” What this chapter points out is a very important argument: You might have been right that one time, but what about the hundreds of times you were incorrect? If the set of events, say tossing a coin 100 versus 5 times, is larger, then coincidences are in fact very likely to occur and are not remarkable.…

Human behavior is complex, diverse, dynamic, and even though I have been a witness to a wide range of erratic behavior (mine included), it still can surprise me. People’s behavior is enigmatic at times and many therapists have developed theories to illuminate them. A variety of things can influence people’s behavior, but how these influences can be explained depends on context and the theoretical approach the counselor takes. As a future change agent, I believe it is important to have a grasp on the different theories available today and their techniques.…

Criminal Minds launched in 2005, and was a great success by the middle of the first season. Thomas Gibson, who plays the leader of the FBI profiling team, tells us that he believes the reason the show is so popular is the way it divulges into the minds of the criminals. “People wonder what happened in the criminal’s life to make them commit such crimes” (qtd. In Davis). Another reason Criminal Minds is so popular is that many of the episodes are inspired from true stories and real killers.…
