Observation Of Jonas Quezada

Improved Essays
I have always loved being around kids. When I worked at a childcare center, I enjoyed being with the two-year-olds. Later on, when I was put into an infant classroom, I loved every bit of it. It has been a little over two years that I have not worked with infants. When I saw that we needed to observe a child, I automatically said I wanted to observe a newborn baby.

He likes to grasp on to mommy’s finger or his soft blankets. I also noticed that he gets startled easily with sudden loud noises and high-pitched noises like brother screaming or such. Jonas turns his head showing interest to locate the sound when mommy, daddy, or a family relative talks to him and also when soft lullaby music is playing. When he is being held by someone, he tends to keep his head upright with a bit of support. When it is tummy time he lifts his head slightly and moves it from left to right in a nodding motion. When laying down in his crib or when it is time for a diaper change he moves his hands in random movements. His hand movements are he opens and closes them but I did notice that when he is being fed his hands start off in a closed fist and slowly as he starts to get full he relaxes and opens up his hands. Jonas like to focus on mommy the most but when mommy is out of site he continues to search for her as mommy talks to him. When nap time or night time comes and he is laying in his crib he likes to have the mobile on his

According to Ms. Santana, she described the Infant/Toddler Sensory Profile containing five categories: auditory, visual, tactile, vestibular, and oral processing. For auditory processing, Joshua occasionally enjoys making sounds with his mouth and almost never finds ways to make noise with toys.
