Observation Of David Wilson's Behavior

David Wilson the behavior therapist for Benjamin and Drew was already in the house when I arrived. He was at the dining room table with all the kids and Ms. Orbach talking about their day and playing a game called pixie stick. The object of the game was to get the children to help each other pick the sticks that would be easiest to get. In this game there were no winners or losers it was just a matter of whether or not they work together. I observe them playing the game. I noticed that even when rules have been clearly explained the children chose not to follow them. Logan was overexcited and try to go more than once. David asked him to stop multiple times before he had to excuse Logan from the table. Logan than had a tantrum. He was crying and ran upstairs . When no one went to check on him he started to throw things down the steps. Logan is 7 years old and has fits like a 3 or 4 year. When he realized he was still being ignored he came back to the dining room table and knocked the pixie sticks off of it. David tried to talk to him and get him to relax and explain to him why he was no longer allowed to play. Logan did not want to hear it and went to the …show more content…
Drew chose not to eat dinner.

Ms. Orbach was more in control of the situation than she has been. She followed through by telling them what the consequences were and doing it. She did not allow herself to be bullied by the children and she told them flat-out that she was no longer allowed certain types of behavior. She said she will no long treat them like their babies, because Lucas is the only baby in the house. I think she was extremely frustrated and tired.

Ms. Orbach is building her confidence as a single parent. I am worried there will be a backlash from the children. Who have already made it very clear that they like the way things are and that they do not want anything to
