Through the choreography and music, you can sense the depression radiating off of the dancers. The blue backdrop represents sadness and the lyrical music, although in a different language, was very slow and gloomy. Later on in the piece, the background switches to black, representing the title. The dancers were “consumed” with depression. They were overpowered by depression’s ability to take over people. The stage itself was also very dark. These colors (dark blues, black) are the colors that you would associate with sadness. The choreography of the dance consisted mostly of long movements and contractions, which caused the mood of the dance to be slow and gloomy. These floor movements contributed to the feeling of sadness in this dance because they were slow and quiet movements. They helped with the enjoyment and understanding of the piece. To get the same feeling across to the audience, I perhaps would have added darker costumes and a black veil to show true depression. The part of this
