In these two weeks, I observed a chemistry class taught by Angela Willson. The main topic for these two weeks was Matter. I was very interesting to observe the chemistry class because chemistry is major.
The first thing that got my attention when I entered the class, the teacher wrote a long list for everything they would do as numbers of orders, and in the top of the board she wrote“ Agenda-Day5”. Usually, teachers use objectives, so it was good for me to learn a new word. The list became different in every new class, but it usually includes: attendance, collect homework, review the questions of the previous homework, break, and what they would learn in the class.
In these two weeks, students learned a lot of topics that relate to the matter. They learned the characteristic for each matter (gas, liquid, and gas). Also, they learned how to find the measurement for matters. She pointed to an important thing when she asked students “ why is measurement important in this course? When we have a correct measurement that means we will have right results of our works”. Also, she explained that they have to use a global measurement because the USA uses different measurement than other countries, so she taught them how to convert the measurement.

Why? Reminded me of how did we solve this problem? What did we learn? This method is very important because she tried to involve students in the lecture and reviewed what did they learned. The teacher gave students a lot of activities to do in each day because they did more than one activity for each day. The teacher wanted students to discover and learn by themselves, so for each topic they did an activity. This inquiry method of learning helps students to be engaged in the class and remember what did they learn faster than the traditional
