Observation: Ed And Kimberly's Child

Assignment 1 Ed and Kimberly’s child, Anthony, experiences a large improvement in vocabulary, concentration, and talking about his day to his father, all of this happens ironically after he is enrolled in a new day care center. Anthony’s vast improvement in his behavior can be explained by his age (how he is maturing and developing), his emotions, and how he is taken care of inside the day care center and at home.
Before Anthony is enrolled in the new day care he is about sixteen months old and that alone is significant support for his improvement. He is at the age where he is already capable of walking and can affect his own environment by picking things up such as toys. Epigenetic effects, the environment itself, is influencing Anthony because it creates a social opportunity by giving him more things to talk about. A study done by Walle and Campos (2014) found that the longer a child walks, the greater his or her vocabulary will be. For example, Anthony could be walking

Although his mother is not physically in the picture, his father can still supply quality care. After Anthony is done for the day at day care and his father is done with work, he can contribute all of his time towards Anthony and have quality time with his son; thus, preventing the day care from having a negative affect such as aggressiveness if he was bullied (Hanes, 2015). After a day at the center, Anthony sharing what he did could be because, according to Piaget, he is in stage six of sensorimotor intelligence where he notices that when he does not share his day with his father, his father might get frustrated or sad and Anthony does not want that to happen which results with him sharing his day more (Berger, 2014).
