OBSERVATIONS/CONCERNS
Assessments of Alex indicate that his cognitive and physical development is normal for his age. However, he has a language delay. The most concern is his expressive language wherein Alex shows difficulty pronouncing his words. His parents have also expressed concern and have begun seeing a speech therapist.
At kinder, Alex shows an interest in construction and puzzles. He plays socially with many peers. However, he sometimes acts physically towards them when he cannot express himself. During lesson times, Alex becomes easily restless which distracts children around him.

It was observed that when his peer, Georgia found a piece of puzzle that Alex was completing and attempted to fit it into a predicted place but he responded “No, I do it. Mine.” with his voice growing irritated. While Georgia was picking another piece of puzzle, Alex hit the piece of puzzle out of her hand and pushed her away when he noticed it. Kostelnik et al (2015) highlighted that there were times when children resort to aggression to express themselves or to get what they want due to lack of experience. Ostrov et al. (2013) emphasized those children who show high rates of aggression when they were young are likely to increase their risk for more severe developmental problems in future such as interacting with others and competency level.
