The Obesity Watchers ad campaign is promoting the idea that people should fight obesity, by endorsing a better and healthier standard of living. This company’s service fulfils the consumers’ basic psychological needs of good health and a secure and bright lifestyle. It is directed towards people who are suffering from obesity or are overweight, and are in need of guidance and professional help to overcome the problem. As clearly stated in the company’s slogan at the bottom of the page, beneath the company name, (“Start making the brighter choices in life”), it claims to give a service where it will help it’s consumers towards a “brighter” and healthier life. The techniques of colour, symbol, salience, juxtaposition and layout have very effectively come together in this …show more content…
The catchline at the top, “Eat wise. Drop a size.” is the optimal something to be strived for. The bottom represents the real facts such as “Start making the brighter choices in life”. In the background, there is a measuring tape, depicting curved lines. The effect of the curved lines is flowing, and suggests movement and flow as well as a sense of liveliness. The apple and cupcake have been framed using shadowy lines to separate the elements from the rest of the poster to highlight it and show its individuality and importance.
Obesity watchers, clearly conveys the message that if you eat healthy, you will “drop a size” (lose weight). The company also claims to provide a service that helps obese or overweight people lose weight simply by eating healthy food and making “brighter” choices. The distinctive features of the advertisement, such as its colours, catchlines, effective layout, symbols and slogan, have been designed to appeal to the basic psychological and physical needs of the consumer, therefore attracting attention, gaining interest and desire and eventually resulting in successful
