Causes
There are many leading causes in children obesity. The leading factors are genetics and no physical activity. Children are starting to not play outside and do sports. Children are becoming more and more reliant on technology. Video games, phones, tablets, TV, etc. Lack of energy balance is a major cause of being overweight. Lack of energy balance is when the energy that comes IN to your body isn’t equivalent to the energy coming OUT.

The parent can be supportive by talking to their child and accepting them. A child will often feel the same way their parent does about them. For example if a child’s parents isn’t supportive and accepting of their child then the child will not accept his or hers self and feel bad about themselves.
Parents are not recommended to separate their child from other children because of their weight. Parents should do the opposite. Parents should gradually put them into sports and other physical activities. Parents should also gradually change the whole families eating and physical activity habits. This will help the whole family and teach everyone healthy eating habits and the child doesn’t feel left out or secluded.

Increasing your family’s physical activity is the most important step. Even if you eat healthy but you and your family still watch tv or play videogames all day then eating healthy will only help a little bit. Getting your family outside and to the gym will have major improvements to your family’s health. If you lead by example then your children will follow you. If children grow up being active then they will most likely grow up active and stay active the rest of their life. If you can plan family activities such as go to the park, running, biking, swimming, gym time, etc. Parents will need to be sensitive to the child’s needs. Obese or overweight children may feel uncomfortable when doing physical activities with others, Parents need to find activities their child likes, enjoys, and aren’t embarrassing for them. Parents have to reduce the amount of time children spend on tv, video games, internet and other technology. Parents also need to make physical activity and healthy foods fun to do and not seem like a chore or the child will ressent it and hate
