Having a healthy diet or not? “Yes! I have enough nutrition every day.” “Sure, my personal nutritionist decides a good daily diet for me, and I am always following it.” “Even though I fail to get enough nutrition sometimes, I can eat some supplements to supply for what my body lacks.” These are some common answers from Americans nowadays. They concern about health issues, and try different ways to have a healthy diet. They seem to be healthy with the help of technology, nutrition and medicine. But do people really eat a healthy diet? Obviously, more and more Americans are changing their diets for losing weight. Also, it is easy to find out more and more food products are labeled the calories value in many food stores. In the article “Obesity and National Defense: Will American Be Too Heavy to Fight,” the author Matthew Gagnon and Mark B. Stephens states: “Obesity has increased significantly in the United State over the past several decades.” So, it is hard to deny that obesity is becoming one of the serious health problems nowadays. For further example, obesity in different states are increasing over time. In the online article “Obesity in America: Facts and Statistics,” the author shows a graph displaying the fact of obesity in America. The graph is called “United States Obesity Trends Maps 1985 to 2010” with two maps. These maps show how the body mass index of the United States has gone up drastically between 1985 and 2010. The body mass index (BMI) means the value of deriving from one’s weight and height, whose attempt is to estimate the one as underweight, normal weight or overweight. In 1985, half of the states in America had a moderate obesity problem while in 2010, all of the states in America had a severe obesity and even some of them had a super-severe obesity problem, which meant that the body mass index is over 30%. If the parents often prepare fast for their kids, how can their kids have a health diet? They need to teach their kids how to have a healthy life and choose healthy foods with enough nutrition. Also, a health life requires daily sports. As good parents, they should encourage their kids to do more sports everyday to reduce fat. To reduce the youth health problems, their parents should make efforts.
Finally, as for adults, they need to improve related information about foods: how they process, what nutrition inside, etc. Overeat never equals to having good nutrition. Over nutrition never equals to health. Also, seeking for a health diet never equals to getting a strong body. Doing sports regularly, controlling emotions and having a good sleep are the good ways to get healthy and digest what people eat easily. If people seldom move their bodies to do some sports, it is easy to multiply the fats inside their bodies. If people cannot control their emotion properly and have a good rest, it is bad for their digestive systems. Adults have awareness of avoiding obesity; however, succeeding in keep fit highly depends on strong will. They should force themselves to learn how to eat in a healthy way and keep exercising
