According to “is obesity a disease” “Obesity is a preventable risk factor for other diseases and conditions, and is not a disease itself .Obesity can also be caused by lack of sleep (or sleep debt), consuming high-fructose corn syrup, a lack of temperature variation (due to air conditioners and heaters), and quitting smoking” (is obesity a disease). This quote shows how obesity is not only a disease it can also be a choice. For example another quote by “is obesity a disease” “Men burned 142 fewer calories daily and weighed 32.8 pounds more in 2003-2006 than in 1960-1962, while women burned 124 fewer calories daily and weighed 25.13 pounds more in 2003-2006 than in 1960-1962.” This confirms that how people started to lose less calories overtime which made them more obese, but it was their choice that they wanted to lose less calories overtime. In a way it is not their fault as the race in the world of getting ahead has made us thinking less about our health and more about money and luxurious lifestyle. David L. from Yale University reveals “I often compare obesity to drowning. Would we consider it a disease if a person were drowning? When someone is drowning, it 's not a problem with their body: Humans cannot be in the water for an arbitrary amount of time, so the problem is a mismatch between the body and the body 's environment.” He is explaining how obesity is a choice not a disease. For example if a guy goes to a fast food restaurant he looks at what he wants and he sees many choices of burgers, fries , and desert; but only one choice of salad yes for sure he will go for the burger and will never look at the calorie box and think what I am consuming today. Many people work out a day or so and think they will lose weight but when nothing happens they give up, but they have to understand how it is not as easy to lose weight as it is to gain but motivation and encouragement can get you through
