Brazilian society is very food-oriented. Almost half of the Brazilian population is considered to be overweight. Research of the Health Ministry of Brazil warns that 52.5% of the Brazilians are above the weight, although the obesity index is stable. #1(04/16/2015) If European people would invite their friends for a soccer match, Brazilians would invite their friends for a barbecue. Every celebration in Brazil is full of food as this is seen as a sign of prosperity. Brazilians would rather having excessive food and throw it away once the guests are gone than to have portions according to the number of guests.

The midafternoon can vary from 15:00 to 16:00.
In the late evening, many Brazilians eat a light dinner, which can be almost the same they had the lunch time. Children enjoy desserts such as pudim or churros, fried dough rolled in sugar and filled with caramel, chocolate, or sweetened condensed milk. The dinner can vary from 19:00 to 21:00.

Effect on economy The Ministry of Sports says that the World Cup would attract tens of thousands of tourists to Brazil in 2014 and even more to the Summer Olympics in 2016. Staying for a week or more, the sports fans would pump millions into the economy by spending on meals, entertainment and accommodations. (The Ministry of Sports)
As you can see the following graph#2, Brazil’s projected budget for hosting the World Cup and the Olympics is $33 billion. It is biggest next to Beijing Olympics in 2008. So we are expecting the Rio Olympics will bring big effect on Brazil’s
