Obesity is a major problem in the United States. This problem has increased since the 20th century. Diabetes is when the body has abnormal metabolism of carbohydrates and high levels of glucose in the blood. About 100 million people have diabetes in the United States. This reason is that people are obese is because of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). This is a sweetener that is made from corn starch and is produced by processing corn starch, and then the glucose is processed to produce fructose. HFCS is in almost everything we eat. Many people in America decide to eat foods that are less healthy than others. This is why America is a fat country. One of these reasons are because the healthier foods are more expensive than the less healthy ones.
